Died Monday, April 25, 1988, at his residence. He was 57, a native and resident of Amite County, Miss. He was a self-employed contractor. Visiting at Brown Funeral Home, Gloster, Miss., 9 a.m. until religious services at 5 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. J.W. Burt and Brother Galon Dawson. Burial in New Hope Cemetery, Amite County.
Survived by wife, Ruby Cathryn [sic Kathryn] Thornton, Gloster, Miss.; a son, Boatner Gene Thornton; and three daughters, Darlene Sides, Bobby Dixon and Janet Haley, all of Baton Rouge; three stepdaughters, Glenda Mizell, Darlene Thornton and Charlotte Ravencraft, all of Gloster, Miss.; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; a brother, Melroy Thornton; and three sisters, Clarene Johnston, Reta Faye Wroten and Betty Jean Thornton.
Preceded in death by a brother, Winnard Thornton.
