2nd Lt. Lanier C. Hightower, son of Mr. and Mrs. K.C. Hightower, Dodson, husband of Dorothy Barr, attended La. Tech. Entered Air Corps, 1942, trained in Georgia, Texas, Florida and California. Served in American Theater. Killed in flight training in California, 1943.

Funeral Services For Lt. Hightower To Be Held Friday
Services for Lt. Charles (Nick) Lanier Hightower, who was killed Wednesday, December 29, on the West Coast, will be held Friday, January 7. Lt. Hightower lost his life in a plane crash while on a routine flight.
The services will take place Friday afternoon at 2:30 and will be held in the First Baptist Church. Lt. Hightower was the son of Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Hightower and the husband of Dottie Barr of Shreveport.

Funeral Services Held For Marine Flyer
Military funeral services for Lt. Chas. Lanier Hightower a pilot in the U. S. Marine Air Corps and a son of Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Hightower, were held at the First Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. today with the Rev. W. E. B. Lockridge, pastor officiating. Lt. Hightower, former student at Tech, was killed last week in an airplane crash about ten miles from his base at El Toro, Calif. Although his dive bomber was previously reported to have fallen into the Pacific ocean later reports indicated that it crashed into a mountain when the flyer encountered fog. Six officers from Barksdale field and a firing squad of eight men and a bugler participated in the services. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
Lt. Hightower is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Barr of Shreveport, his parents and a sister and brother, Dorothy and Kenneth.
