MONDIE
Charles Leslie, age 93, of Yukon, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 1995. He was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 20, 1901. He moved with his family to Oklahoma in 1906 and later graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City. He had been a resident of Spanish Cove Retirement Village for the past 14 years.
His parents were Joseph Guy and Adelia Catinka Hedderich Mondie.
Charles was a self-employed businessman in Oklahoma City for many years. He began his working career as an operator for Western Union after school hours. Later, he managed and operated his own service station, feed store, laundromat, and rental properties. During World War II, he worked at the Douglas Plant at Tinker A.F.B. He was a member of the Scottish Rites, Siloam Lodge No. 276, and had completed over 73 years as a 32 degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mildred Gaylor Mondie, by his brothers, John Clinton and Joseph Raymond Mondie, and by his sisters, Orpha Marie Thomas, Venita Ione Sloan, Georgia Grace O'Connell, and Jose Adelia Mondie.
He is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Ann Schwoerke and son-in-law, Dennis of Piedmont, Ok. Other survivors include his granddaughter, Denise Debra Jett and her husband, Kevin of Maud; and great granddaughters, Amanda Rose and Valari Anne. He is also survived by his sister, Vera Magdelena Swafford of Seattle, Wa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 27, 1995 at the Yanda & Son Chapel, Yukon, with interment at Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, Ok.
