Charles Lisso Cathey
MINDEN, LA -- Funeral services for Mr. Charles L. Cathey, 73, a 42 year resident of Minden, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold with the Reverend Malcolm Self officiating. Internment [sic Interment] will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. Mr. Cathey died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at his home.
Mr. Cathey grew up on his family's farm in Castor, Louisiana and graduated from Castor High School. He became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1952, and worked as an electrician for 32 years. He formed Cathey Contracting Company in 1984 and retired due to illness in 1997. He was active in the Louisiana horse industry throughout his lifetime, showing and owning many champions. He also loved breeding and showing Border Collies. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Minden.
He was preceded in death by his parents Iris and Emmett D. Cathey, and his brother Jerry K. Cathey.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathlean Sullivan Cathey, his son Gary A. Cathey and partner Justin J. Normand, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, his sister Marjorie Dean Miller and her husband Bill F. Miller of Spokane, Washington, and his brother Edwin M. Cathey and his wife Barbara M. Cathey of Ashville, North Carolina, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Edwin M. Cathey, Jr., Rodney W. Cathey, O. H. Haynes III, Damon Boyd, Larry Shaw, and Alex Simpson.
