Charles Mikey Chaney
``For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith'' 2 Timothy 4:6-7.
A lifelong resident of Bluff Creek, he died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at his home surrounded by his children and his loved ones. He was 77, a retiree and member of Pipefitters Local 198. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Clinton, on Friday, Feb. 11, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting continues at Living Word Christian Centre, Grangeville, on Saturday, Feb. 12, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Pastor Warren Kinchen. Burial in the church cemetery.
Survived by his wife, Carolyn Secrest Chaney; two sons, Karl ``Bubba'' Chaney and wife Anita, of Clinton, and Mike Chaney and wife Lita, of Zachary; daughter, Mickey Singleton and husband Ralph, of Clinton; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Stanga, of Baton Rouge, and Alpha Feierabend, of Clinton; and brother, Roy Chaney, of Clinton.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Lesia D'ette Chaney; father, Otis ``Buck'' Chaney; and mother, Dollye Bass Chaney.
Pallbearers will be Joe Williams, Cody Lancon, Scott Masterson, Darryl Glenn Bourque, Cassidy McElwee and Lannis Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Albert Kelly and Melvin Gene Bourque.
He was a member of Living Word Christian Centre and the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Charles loved his race horses and his puppies.
