DR. W. CHARLES OLIVER, 89

ST. PETERSBURG -- Dr. W. Charles Oliver passed away May 2, 2007 of complications from a fall at the age of 89.

Dr. Oliver was born in Carlisle, AR on August 19, 1917 to Charlie and Nettie Oliver. Before going into the ministry he served in the US Army. He served as District Superintendent for the Church of the Nazarene in Mississippi, SW Indiana, and Alabama. Prior to his retirement he served as Pastor of the Ruskin Community Church, and later became a member at Bartow First Church of the Nazarene. Dr. Oliver also was the former owner and instructor of the Lakeland Auto Driving School.

Dr. Oliver was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne Oliver; brother, George Oliver; sister, Audine Neighbors. He is survived by his son, Charles Wayne Oliver; brother, Albert Oliver; granddaughter, Amy Russell.

Visiting hours will be on Monday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bartow First Church of the Nazarene, 950 S. Floral Ave., Bartow. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens.
