Charles R. Davis
Funeral services for Charles R. Davis, 81, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Sunset Memorial Chapel of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home with the Reverend Walter Roberts of First United Methodist Church of Garrison, Texas, officiating. Interment will follow in White Rock Cemetery, Shelby County.
Mr. Davis was born March 26, 1923, in Timpson to the late Easter Morris and Dettie Gee Chandler Davis. Mr. Davis was self-employed and owned Crescent Insulators Inc. in Harahan, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Garrison High School class of '42 as well as the University of Texas.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty Dorrell Davis of Nacogdoches. He is also survived by six children; daughters, Linda Fay and her husband, James Abshire, of Plantersville, Betty Charlene and her husband, Charles Romans, of Bethel, Maine; sons, Charles R. Davis Jr. and his wife, Debbie, Billy C. Davis and wife, Karanyna, all of Baton Rouge, La., Tommy Glen Davis and his wife, Donna, of Benbrook, James Michael Porter and his wife, Margaret, of Picayune, Miss.; brothers, Easter M. Davis Jr. of Russell, Kansas, George E. Davis of Nacogdoches, John H. Davis and W.H. ``Sonny'' Davis both of Conroe, David C. Davis of Crosby; sisters, Yvette Teer and Merlen Jane Teer both of Houston, and Sarah Teer of Huntsville. Mr. Davis is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his son, Mickey Lynn Davis; grandchildren, Pete Reed Davis and Mishell Marie Davis; and one sister, Yvonne Chaney.
Pallbearers will be James Abshire Jr., Charles Davis III, Daniel Davis, James Porter Jr., John Charles Porter and Brock Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessee Bankston, Cole Davis and Greg Davis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
