Whitney Dies at Home Near Baskin Following Several Months Illness

Charles Whitney, 79, died at his home near Baskin early Wednesday morning after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Coax church at 3 p.m. today with the Rev. J. H. Keyes, West Monroe, officiating. Burial was in Coax cemetery under the direction of First National Funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia; four daughters, Mrs. Mable Cook, Mrs. Lydia Givens, Mrs. May Cook and Mrs. Alice Goodman, all of Winnsboro; four sons, Jesse Whitney, Archie Whitney, Edward Whitney and Lige Whitney, all of this town. He also leaves 16 grandchildren.
