MOSS POINT -- Charles William Mayo Sr., 75, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, in Moss Point.

Mr. Mayo was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Jones County and was a resident of Moss Point. He retired as a machinist from Chevron. He was a member of Canaan Assembly of God Church and was past grand master of Laurel Masonic Lodge No. 503, where he was a 32nd degree mason.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James G. and Oral Latham Mayo.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Ruth Mayo of Moss point; two sons, Charles Mayo Jr. o Mobile, Ala., and Steve Mayo of Atlanta; a daughter, Linda Asbell of Dalton, Ga.; three sisters, Agnes Erwin Bazer of Pascagoula, Ollie Mae Sumrall of Laurel and Mary Lou Harger of Los Lunas, N.M.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. A service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.
