Charley Unsell
March 1, 1930 - May 21, 2016

Funeral services for Charley Unsell, 86, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Clayton McClendon officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Unsell was born March 1, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Benjamin Harrison Unsell and Hilda Helen (Hudspeth) Unsell, and died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Unsell had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He retired from Southwest Color and had also worked for Texas Foundries, Chromium Corporation, and Lufkin Industries. Mr. Unsell was also an independent contractor and home builder, and was “The Man” of Chico and The Man Body Shop. He could build or fix any and everything. He particularly enjoyed playing Solitaire on the computer, but was recently having difficulty making the “new computer” perform like the “old one”. Mr. Unsell was known for his charity and would help anyone.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Barbara S. Unsell of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Bennie Reneau of Nacogdoches and Shelia and Ricky Wells of Hudson; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason Harrison and April Unsell of Nacogdoches and Jeremy and Melissa Unsell of Central; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth “Buster” Farley of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack Rose.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Unsell, Jay Blackburn, Jack Nichols, James Clary, Jerry Wayne Reeves, and Chico Morales. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth “Buster” Farley, Charles Nick, Louis Smith, J.L. Collins, and Joe Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or the Humane Society of Angelina County, P.O. Box 472, Lufkin, Texas 75902.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
