Funeral service for Charlie Mack Smith, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008, in the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. The Rev. Terry Hodges of First Christian Church and the Rev. Shannon Arrington, Church of Christ minister, will officiate. Burial will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery, out of Garrison, Texas.
Charlie Mack Smith passed away February 18, 2008, in Nacogdoches, Texas, at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital at 4 a.m. Mr. Smith was born October 24, 1923, to Irvin Dennis Smith and Clara McCarty Smith. Mr. Smith worked 36 years for Exxon Corp. and retired in 1983. He was a loving husband and dear friend. Mr. Smith loved sports. He played with the Baytown Oilers and a ball club in Deluth, Minnesota. He loved baseball and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Piney Woods Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen ``Kathy'' Smith of Nacogdoches, Texas; a brother, Ken Smith of Las Vegas, a sister-in-law, JoAnn Smith of El Paso, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, I.D. Smith Sr. [sic Jr.]; and a sister, Monta Jo Smith Bigger.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008.
