Charlie M. Richey

Funeral services for Mr. Charlie M. Richey of Hineston will be Friday, April 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Melder. Burial will follow at Fellowship Methodist Church Cemetery in Hineston under the directions of Hixson Brothers in Alexandria. Mr. Richey, 79, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Canterbury House in Alexandria.

He retired from the Louisiana National Guard after 30 years of service.

He loved to garden and spend time with his children and grandchildren, and he enjoyed visiting his fellow residents at Canterbury House.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Roddie Richey; his parents, William and Lilly Richey; two brothers and two sisters.

He will be greatly missed by his seven children, Charles (Barbara) Richey of Hineston, Mary (John) Vermaelen of Pineville, Raymond (Suzy) Richey of Otis, David (Kathy) Richey of Deville, Betty (Eddie) Rhame of Melder, Rita (Ezell) Ainsworth Frazier of Boyce, and Carol (Richard) Barron of Marietta, Ga.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Annie (Paul) Myers, Jason (Veronica) Warren, Brandon (Cassie) Ainsworth, Natasha (Jason) Anderson, John (Wendy) Ainsworth, Scottie (Heather), Jennifer, Cierra, Courtney, Chandler, Christopher, and Matthew Richey, Ivy and Warren (Melissa) Courts, Christopher and Amanda Ricketts; 15 great-grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call Thursday at 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hixson Brothers in Alexandria, and Friday at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Melder at 11 a.m. until time of the service.

His grandchildren are honored to serve as his pallbearers.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Canterbury House, 1101 16th St., Alexandria, LA 71301 to help purchase automatic sliding glass doors.
