Chester Evans Rites Planned
Funeral services for Chester G. Evans, owner of the Evans Employment Service, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lamar & Smith Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Grove Hill Memorial Park.
Born in Leesville, La., Evans died here Monday. He had lived in Dallas 46 years. He served in the U.S. Calvalry during World War I. Prior to founding the employment service in 1937, he had been in the mortgage loan business.
Active in Community Chest, Thompson [sic Evans] also served on the price enforcement board during World War II and was a member of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau and Retail Merchants Credit Association.
A 32nd degree Mason, he was chairman of the credentials committee of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas, a past district deputy of the Grand Lodge of Texas, grand representative of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Arkansas, past high priest of Royal Arch Masons, past master of Dallas Council of Royal and Select Masters in York Rite, past master and secretary of Sam P. Cochran Masonic Lodge and a charter member and past patron of Cochran Order of the Eastern Star.
He also was a member of the High Noon Club, Hella Temple Shrine and the Beverly Hills Baptist Church.
