Chester Lee Kirkland
SHERMAN - Chester Lee Kirkland, 84, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018.
Chester Lee Kirkland was born to Daniel Chester Kirkland and Lucy Leola Prince Kirkland on Oct. 28, 1934, in Shreveport, La.
He left this life Nov. 25, 2018, and was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Chester retired from IBM in Fort Worth after 37 and a half years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
He was a member of Memorial Christian Church (now New Hope Fellowship) for 45 years serving as a teacher and in multiple positions on the board. In 2001, he joined Grace Lutheran where he led a small group. After moving to Sherman in 2016, to be near their daughter, he placed his membership with First United Methodist Church.
After retiring, he and Lynn moved to St. Francis Village in Crowley where they lived for 18 wonderful years. While there, he volunteered at The Warm Place in its early years. Chester was an endowed and 50-year member of Tabernacle Masonic Lodge #1195 of Fort Worth.
Survivors: Loving wife, Lynn of 63 years; son, Kenneth Kirkland and wife, Cathy of Arlington; daughter, Kathy Matthews and husband, Tom of Sherman; grandchildren, Eric Matthews and wife, Tiffany, Jessica McKeown and husband, James, Stuart Matthews and wife, Sarah and Rachel Matthews; and five great-grandchildren, J.D. McKeown, Blair and Brynnleigh Matthews and Luke and Jordan Matthews.
