Christeen Tibbs Hayes

JACKSONVILLE - Services for Christeen Tibbs Hayes, 84, of Jacksonville, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Brown officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hayes died Sunday at Countryside Manor.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph B. Hayes of Jacksonville; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Hayes and Darrell Brown of Gadsden; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph David and Dora Hayes of Jacksonville; her brother, William Tibbs; five grandchildren, Dana Brown Alverson, Mandy Hayes Hammond, April Brown McElroy, Joy Brown Hester, Wendy Hayes Rogers; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Alverson, David Hayes, Brian Hammond, Shawn Rogers, Azor Hayes and Bobby Hendrix. Honorary pallbearers will be the Jane Self Class of the 1st Baptist Church of Jacksonville.

Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Jane Self Sunday school class and was the nursery coordinator for many years at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. Mrs. Hayes was an active member of the Keenagers senior adult group at First Baptist. She lived in Jacksonville for 57 years working as a seamstress and full-time homemaker. She was married for 59 years to Mr. Hayes. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Mae Jones and Louise Gentry; and two brothers, Robert Tibbs and Frank Tibbs.
