Christine (Po) Jordan passed away January 7, 2012, in Temple at the age of 91. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple with Rev. Kathy Vineyard officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Visitation will be 5:30 - 7:30 PM on Wednesday, January 11, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jordan was the youngest daughter of seven children born on September 6, 1920 in Laurel, Mississippi, to James Preston and Nora Smiley Reddoch. Christine married Charles E. Jordan in 1941 and was married for 56 years. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1997. She worked in the Ector County tax assessor's office for 20 years in Odessa, before retiring and moving to Snyder in 1974. While in Snyder, she loved to play golf and was active in the Women's Golf Association. She also spent much time at the family farm, Mariposa, in Gorman. She moved to Temple in 1976. While in Temple, she was active in Newcomers Club, and loved to play bridge and dance.
Mrs. Jordan loved her family and her friends, and was particularly proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always kind and gracious, she had many friends, and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She loved to be active and while her last years proved to be difficult she received excellent care from the nursing staff at the Meridian Retirement Health Center and Vista Care Hospice. Although a lifelong Baptist, she attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister. Survivors include two loving sons and daughters-in-law; Mike and Sally Jordan of Temple; Scott and Paula Jordan of Belton; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four nieces and three nephews.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Grace Presbyterian Church of Temple, the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
