COURTNEY SR., CLARENCE E.

Died Tuesday, July 6, 1993, at Fairfax County Hospital, Fairfax, Va. He was 74, a native of Amite, a former resident of Baton Rouge, and a resident of Gloster, Miss. He was former owner of Courtney Hardware and a retired general contractor.

Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday. Religious services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.

Survived by wife, Narvelle Crum Courtney, Gloster; three sons, C.C. Courtney, Baton Rouge, James Errol Courtney, Arlington, Va., and C.E. Courtney Jr., Los Angeles, Calif; a daughter, Beverly Ann Courtney Cox, Gloster; two grandsons, Casey Dan Cox and Kat W. Courtney; two granddaughters, Alison Martin Courtney and Silver S. Courtney; four brothers, Francis L. Courtney, Ruston, O.C. Courtney, Frank Courtney and Floyd Courtney, all of Baton Rouge; and three sisters, Thelma Sharkey and Mildred Miller, both of Baton Rouge, and Catherine Courtney, Lodi, Calif.

Preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Courtney, a son, William Kenneth Courtney; two sisters, Hazel Courtney and Shirley Courtney Corkern; and three brothers, Alvae, Robert and Elsy Courtney.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Baton Rouge.
