Clarence Theo ``C.T.'' Hellums, Sr.
TUSCALOOSA -- Clarence Theo ``C.T.'' Hellums, Sr., age 90, left this life on June 17, 2006 at LaRocca Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. June 20, 2006 at Heritage Chapel. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
C.T. was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Logan Hellums; daughter, Martha Lavinia Hellums; his parents, Charles Clinton and Elsie Lue Hellums; sisters, Vretta Jackson and Eulalia Teas; and brother, Herbert Hellums.
Survivors include his son C.T. ``Ted'' Hellums, Jr. (Sylvia) of Tuscaloosa; granddaughter, Heidi Marie Reid (Chip) of Southlake, Texas; grandson, Christopher Theo Hellums (Rachel) of Birmingham; five great grandchildren; brother, James Tulon Hellums of Russellville; and sisters, Bernice Howell of Decatur and Evelyn Strange of Baltimore, Md.
C.T. was born October 15, 1915 in Booneville, Miss. He graduated from Russellville High School in 1932 and Alverson College in 1936. He then went to work for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company where he became Regional Manager. In 1946 he was one of the founders of Bessemer Tobacco and Candy Company. He moved his family to Tuscaloosa in 1953 and started the Tuscaloosa Tobacco and Candy Company.
