Last Will and Testament of Clarissa Thrasher
In the presence of the Benevolent Father of all, I Clarissa Thrasher of the Township of Garrettsville County of Portage and State of Ohio, being of full age and sound mind yet conscious of the uncertainty of life, do make and declare the following to be my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all wills heretofore executed by me.
Item 1st At my death it is my will that my body be placed in a metallic coffin or burial case and removed to a vault, there to remain for several weeks and then to be deposited in the Manley burrying grounds, there to remain with my family forever.
Item 2nd It is my will that suitable tombstones be placed at my grave and also at the grave of Abigal Backus my mother and such reasonable improvements made upon my family burial lot as my executor may deem necessary, and the expenses of the same paid out of my property.
Item 3rd It is my will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid first.
Item 4th I hereby give and bequeath to my Grandson Morton R. Manley in trust for all of his children equally all my individual interest being about a one half interests in 89 acres of ... of a full [illegible] as conferred by law upon the wife of the owner of real estate said interest to commence at the time of the death of her said husband. I also give and bequeath to the said Morton R. Manley about 3 1/2 acres of land in Garrettsville (being all that now remains to me of a tract of about 4 acres which I purchased from C. T. Truesdale) for the use and benefit of all his children equally, subject to the same interest as set forth in regard to the Ellenwood farm which interest is hereby created and bequeathed to the said Emma Manley; but permit the said Morton R. Manley by and with the advice and consent of the said Emma Manly and my executor to sell any portion or all of the last described land and apply the proceeds to the maintenance and education of his children, but requiring the said Emma Manly and my executor to [illegible] in the conveyance of the same to pass the title.
Item 5th I hereby give and bequeath to each of the two sons of Morton R. Manley one acre of land each in a square form and situated in the N. part of what is known as the Chamberlain lot being said division No. 10 of Lot No. 1 in Garrettsville, the same to be selected for them by my Executor.
Item 6th I hereby Give and bequeath to my Grandson Morton R. Manly the timberland not exceeding seven acres from the East End of said last named tract the west line to be parallel with the east line of said subdivision.
Item 7th I hereby give and bequeath to aforesaid Emma Manly my carriage and my black horse now about 5 years old, and desire her to give to my grandson Orville Manley a horse of equal value when the said Orville attains the age of 21 years.
Item 8th I give and bequeath to my Grandson Carl Manley, the said bequest to take effect however only after the lapse of full five years after my death, my home farm consisting of about 140 acres -- partly in Garrettsville and partly in Windham and also all that part of subdivision No. 10 of Lot No. 1 not otherwise disposed of with all the stock and implements. I desire that my Executor permit the said Carl Manly to occupy and use the same so long as he pays all taxes thereon and takes good care of the same making needed repairs and shall pay to my Executor one third of the proceeds of said farm until such time as no further payments are necessary to enable my Executor to pay all my debts. ... but in no case shall the said Carl Manly make any sale of or place any incumberance on the above described property or come into full possession or control of the same without the full consent of my Executor until after the Expiration of the aforesaid 5 years.
Item 9th Should there be any money arrising from my personal property to wit moneys or credits in the hand of my Executor after paying all my debts and all expenses I give and bequeath said residue to the afore named Emma Manly.
Item 10th It is my will that my two grandsons have an Equal share of all my household goods the same to be assigned them by their mother Cordelia S. Dunn.
Item 11th It is my will that my Executor take immediate charge of all my moneys and credits and of such articles of personal property as I have not bequeathed and pay all debts and expenses at such times as is most convenient and just and protect my real estate bequeathed as above set forth from any unnecessary waste.
Item 12th I hereby constitute and appoint Jedediah Cole of Garrettsville O. Executor, without bond, of this my last will and testament.
Clarissa Thrasher
In the presence of each other and in the presence and at the request of Clarissa Thrasher we hereby Sign over named as witnesses to the foregoing instrument which the said Clarissa Thrasher declared to be her last will and testament.

Codicil
I Clarissa Thrasher of Garrettsville Ohio being desirous to change all that part of Item 4th as published in my last will and testament under date of Mch. 13th 1878, which refers to the tract of about 3 1/2 acres of land in Garrettsville being all that now remains to me of a tract of about 4 acres purchased of C. T. Truesdale. I make and declare this my codicil to express my desires in respect to the said 3 1/2 acre trust.
My Executor without bond is directed and empowered to sell a part of said tract, being 75 feet front and rear fronting on Forest Street and lying adjacent to the piece which I deeded to R. E. Patterson and use the proceeds in the Settlement of my Estate.
He is also authorized to sell all of the remainder of said 3 1/2 acres at such times and in such parcels as he shall deem best and make such disposition of the proceeds as he shall see proper from time to time for the benefit of the two sons of Morton R. Manley and the daughter Cordelia of Carl Manley, but in such manner that the three shall have equal amounts of the proceeds of the sale of the said land and each shall on arriving at majority receive any remaining portion of said proceeds belonging to his share.
I also give and bequeath to Ida Manley Wife of Carl Manley for the the [sic] use and benefit of my Granddaughter Cordelia Manly all my household goods and wearing apparell which I shall not otherwise dispose of during my lifetime.
In all respects, subject however to the changes made by this Codicil, I hereby rectify my will executed Mch 13th 1878. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this 14th day of May A.D. 1879.

In the presence of Clarissa Thrasher and at her request, and in the presence of each other we sign our names as witnesses to the foregoing codicil which She signed in our presence.
