Clayton Jackson Sikes
Graveside services for Mr. Clayton Jackson Sikes, age 91, will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the Old Sarepta Cemetery, Sarepta, LA, with military graveside rites by the Barksdale U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, with Rev. Todd Pickard officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2015, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill.
Mr. Sikes was born on October 1, 1923 to Rev. Jackson Zachary and Lula Mae Chandler Sikes in Crowville, LA and passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Sarepta. Mr. Sikes worked for International Paper, retiring with 33 years of service. He was a Veteran of the US Army Air Corp serving in WWII. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and loved growing watermelons and gardening. He was a faithful member of Old Sarepta Missionary Baptist Church, loved music and enjoyed playing the steel guitar. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Delafield Sikes; daughter, Foyle Dianne Lewis of Sarepta, LA; three sons, Danny Sikes and wife, Mitzie of Sarepta, LA, Randy Sikes and wife, Deborah of Slidell, LA, Gary Sikes and wife, Cheryl of Sarepta, LA; eight grandchildren, Clay Sikes and wife, Dana, Felicia Sikes, Brandon Lewis and wife, Crystal, Ashley Robinette and husband, Michael, Melissa Davis and husband, Emmett, Derek Sikes, Shelaine Cooper and husband, Jeremy, and McKenzie Sikes; great grandchildren, Annie, Trey, Ryan, Angelica, Christian, Caden, Gavin, Drew, Reese, Micah, and Raliegh and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sikes was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Perry Sikes; one brother and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Clay Sikes, Brandon Lewis, Derek Sikes, Michael Robinette, Jeremy Cooper, Dale Matthews, Dr. Robert Price and Dr. Paul Price.
