Clayton Wells Cox

Funeral services for Clayton Wells Cox, age 65, of Tallulah were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, in the First Baptist Church ut Tallulah with Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Mr. Cox died Wednesday, May 24, in the St. Francs Medical Center in Monroe after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Plain Dealing, La., and had lived in Tallulah for 58 years. He was the former Chief of Police of Tallulah and was retired from Osborne Ford in Tallulah as Sales Manager. He was past president of the Tallulah Rotary Club; a member of the Jaycees and of the Madison-Richland Gideon Camp. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tallulah.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Roberson Cox of Tallulah; two sons: William “Billy” Cox and his wife Thelma of West Monroe; Grandchildren: Kyle Cox, Kayla Kody Cox, and Kasey Cox; two brothers: Armon Cox and Gene Cox, both of Tallulah; one sister: Mari Lucy Brown of Tallulah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Chris Cox, Craig Cox, Edgar Purvis, Kevin Purvis, Larry Cox and Louis Grady.
