Clellon Whitten Blue
Clellon Whitten Blue died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Covenant Health and Rehab. She was 96.
Mrs. Blue was born in Grayson, La., on April 21, 1910, and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1929. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Godfrey and Gracie Allen Dunn Whitten. She completed nurse's training at Vicksburg Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse. She was an operating room nurse and assisted with private duty nursing. Mrs. Blue was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of Faith Chapter No. 358 Order of Eastern Star and was a charter member of the Friendship Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. William Harold Blue Sr.; an infant son, Harold Gordon Blue; one sister; and four brothers.
Survivors include a son, William Harold Blue Jr. and wife, Jean, of Vicksburg; and a brother, Trowley John Whitten of Grayson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John G. McCall and Brother Ed Hightower officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Black, Charlie Coker, Dr. Jimmy Vessell, Ralph Ludke, V.C. Ahlrich, John A. Boa, Dr. John Stepan and LeRoy Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Peyton and Travis T. Vance Jr.
