Clifton Curtis Walker
Clifton Curtis Walker, a resident of Cortez, died at Vista Grande Nursing Home July 15, 2005. He was 88.
Cremation has taken place with a memorial service pending for a later date.
Clifton Curtis Walker was born August 24, 1916, in Ardmore, Okla., to Novie Mae Reddel Walker and Jasper Newton Walker. Clifton married Margaret Imogene Sellars on January 19, 1939, in Las Cruces, N.M. The couple was blessed with two children.
Clifton was a decent, moral, Christian man who was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and other relatives.
Clifton proudly served his country in WWII Pacific Theater as a member of the Army Medical Corps. He was honorably discharged after serving two years in this South Pacific campaign. He worked as a fireman engineer for 22 years in the civil service on a naval base.
Clifton is survived by his daughter, Mary Othella Salphine; granddaughters, Margaret Ann Vanderpool, Linda Marie Peters, Susan Lori Peters; grandson, DeWayne William Walker; great-granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Peters, Renee Nelson, Gina Walker; great-grandsons, Michael David Iles, Mathew Thomas Iles, Jeffrey Lee Iles, Ryan James Vanderpool, Cyrus Lee Bigham, Christopher Adam Duxbury, John Lucas Derr; great-great-granddaughters, Ashlynne Marie Iles, Anya Rose Iles; nieces, Celina Cordes Radar, Patricia Cordes Breu, Lorraine Opocensky Bourriague, Lynne Merrie Roehrig McDermott; and nephews, Fred Cordes and Phillip Martin Roehrig.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Imogene Sellars Walker; a son, Clifton Curtis Walker Jr.; his parents, Jasper Newton Walker and Novie Mae Reddel Walker; a brother, Walter Walker; sisters, Mildred Othella Sellars Cordes, Mary Elizabeth Sellars Roehrig, a great-grandson, Michael Thomas Walker, and nieces, Linda Susan Opocensky and Robin Lynn Cordes.
The family is being served by Cortez Four Corners Funeral Chapel, Hale & Gerken.
