Clifton Sanders
January 19, 1943 - June 9, 2012

Funeral services for Clifton “Cliff” Sanders, age 69, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the New Sarepta Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Rev. Marty Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at New Sarepta Baptist Church.

Mr. Sanders was born January 19, 1943 in Holly Ridge, LA to Jim and Rosie Sanders Baum and went to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 9, 2012. He worked for Rose Oil Company from 1957 to 1968 in Bastrop, LA and Greenville, MS; then he moved his family to Royal Oak, MI and worked for Chrysler Corp. until 1981. He and his family then moved to Sarepta where he owned Thriftway Grocery for 16 years and worked at Dorcheat Lumber from 1998 until 2000. He was a member of the Martin Road Hunting Club; he loved to hunt, grow a garden and care for his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sherry Bolton Sanders; daughters, Barbara Bearden and husband, Tom of Minden, LA; Pam Carter, of Sarepta, LA; son, Keith Sanders and wife, Holley of Atlanta, TX; grandchildren, Dusty Reeme, Colby Reeme and wife, Elizabeth, Michael Sanders, Abby Sanders, Christopher Carter, Timothy Carter and Madison Sanders; great-granddaughter, Aubri Reeme; brother, Billy Sanders and wife, Ann of Springhill, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Charles; sisters, Maxine Whetstone, Myrtle Thompson and Pat Colson; half-brothers, Winn and Erving Baum; half-sisters, Addie, Mellie and Grace.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dusty Reeme, Colby Reeme, Michael Sanders, Shane Colson, Michael Jones and Eddie Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher and Timothy Carter.

Our family would like to express our appreciation to Bro. Marty Wright and our church family for the prayers, cards and food during the past four years. Special thanks to Dr. Pat Deere, Dr. Stephen Cox, Professional Home Health and the Agape staff that have helped so much during Cliff's illness.
