YELVERTON, Clyde Earl, Sr., died at his home in Dothan March 31, 2007. He was 80.
Funeral services will be graveside at Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown, Alabama, April 3 at 11:00 with the Rev. Dr. Hays McKay and the Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. Following burial, the family will receive friends at Uniontown First Methodist Church. On Monday the family will be at the home of Mary G. Auburtin, Marion, from 6 to 8 pm.
Mr. Yelverton was born in Uniontown, Alabama, October 2, 1926, to V.S. and Zelma Yelverton. He finished high school in Uniontown and attended Marion Institute. He served in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Campaign, in World War II. Following his discharge he was engaged in dairy and cattle farming in Uniontown and later owned an automobile dealership there. He also served as a rural carrier fo the U.S. Postal Service. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Montgomery. In 2001, they moved to Dothan, where he became a member of Covenant United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stanley Griffin Yelverton; a sister, Geneva Givban; and two brothers, J.C. and Glenn Yelverton.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Mildred Griffin Yelverton; two sons and their wives, Clyde E., Jr. and Robin Yelverton of Dothan and Jim and Pam Yelverton of Englewood, Florida; four grandchildren, Lindsay and James Yelverton of Englewood, Andrea and Clyde Yelverton, III of Dothan; and two sisters, Jewell Harrison and Linda Jackson, both of Montgomery.
