Clyde L. Gates
(April 23, 1920 - November 15, 2006)

Funeral service for Clyde Lee Gates, 86, of Winnsboro will be held at 10 AM Friday, November 17, 2006 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Marion Collier and Mr. Ronnie Busby officiating. Interment will follow in Crowville Masonic Cemetery.

He was born to Dewy and Alice Busby Gates on April 23, 1920 in Sikes, LA and passed from this life Thursday, November 15, 2006 in Plantation Manner Nursing Home in Winnsboro.

Mr. Gates was of the Baptist faith, and very proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was a longtime local farmer and was an employee of Hatfield Hardware and Lumber for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Vaudie McCarty Gates; and a brother Homer Gates.

He is survived by his wife Mary Richardson Gates; stepson Charles R. Goodman and wife Sandy; stepdaughter Charlotte Manning and husband, Troy; nine step grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Ann Pearrow and Delores Goodman, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Bill Martin, Roy Glenn Pearrow, Bobby Posey, Jimmy Reynolds, Mitch Reynolds, and Buddy Stokes.

The family would like to express there heartful gratitude to Dr. Jimmy Courghan, TLC Hospice, and the staff at Plantation Manner Nursing Home, for the care given to Mr. Gates.
