Clyde was born October 27, 1921 in Henderson, Texas to Forrest Chilton and Golda R. (Stewart) Propes. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1939. He retired from Sun Oil Company after 38 years in Houston, Texas. If there was one word to describe Clyde it would be, Love. He had a great love for his Lord, life, family and every hobby he did. His favorite sport to watch was basketball; he and Lynn were long time season ticket holders to Aggie Women's Basketball Team and would follow local high school basketball especially the Snook Blue Jays. Clyde was an avid bowler and loved to deer hunt. On many occasions to get around on his property, Clyde would climb on his ``mule'' and ride around checking the progress of his expansive vegetable gardens. He was the ``Papa'' in Papa Clyde's Peppers. Papa especially loved shopping for grocery bargains for the foods he couldn't produce.
Clyde is preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Jo Harris Propes and his brothers and sister.
He is survived by his wife, Norelyn ``Lynn'' Propes of Somerville; children and their spouses, Joseph Wayne Propes of Jefferson, Texas, F. Michele and Ted Otto of Olympia, Wash., Jane and Scott McAvoy of Kaufman, Texas, Laurie Hayse of Columbia, Tenn., Meg and Chip Gilmer and Andrew John and Jennifer Gugle all of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother-in-law John T. Schneider and wife Lucinda of Austin, Texas; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Bicknell & husband Thomas of Broomfield, CO., Hilda Propes and Ann Propes, both of Henderson, Texas; fifteen precious grandchildren, eight special great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to a special thank you to Dr. Robert and Pam Wiprud and special friends, Barney and Melissa Boatcallie and Pastor Rudy and Lena Junek for all of the love, care and support they gave to Clyde and his family.
