DIED

SLAY -- In Cheneyville, La., on September 10, 1927, Clyde Slay, born July 17, 1893. The remains were taken to the Cheneyville Baptist church, where services were held by the Rev. J. P. Durham, after which interment was made by the side of his father in the cemetery at Cheneyville. The remains were borne to their last resting place by some of his boyhood school mates. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.

Clyde was married to Miss Juett Jones, of Shreveport, August 16, 1920. He is survived by his wife and two children, aged 3 and 6 years; one brother, Jimmie Lea Slay, and three sisters, Laura May, Cornelia and Katie Bell Slay. Besides his immediate family he leaves a number of relatives and a host of friends.

Clyde was born and reared in the Cheneyville community, attending the Cheneyville public school until he graduated in 1912, after which he attended a business school. In 1917 he entered the army as a volunteer and was released in 1919.

In early youth Clyde became a member of the Baptist church. After his marriage in 1920 he made his home in Shreveport. Only a few months ago his father was called away by death. At that time Clyde's health was bad, and the awful shock of losing his father, to whom he was greatly devoted, seemed to make him worse. His family remarked often that he was sad and quiet and changed. He and his family returned to his old home in Cheneyville, La., about a month ago, thinking the change would improve his health. He was taken worse suddenly on September 9, was taken to the Lecompte hospital on September 10, and passed away that night.

The many friends of the family sincerely sympathize with them in their bereavement.
