DR. JARRELL, 86, EXPIRES AT EPPS

ALEXANDRIA, La. -- Dr. Columbus Marion Jarrell, 86, died at his home at Epps at 8:10 a.m. Monday.

Dr. Jarrell was born in Columbia Oct. 18, 1872 [sic 1871]. He was a merchant and served as Caldwell parish treasurer.

He subsequently graduated from the Tulane university medical school in 1907 and practiced medicine in Franklin parish. He specialized in pediatrics and was later associated with children's hospitals in St. Louis, Boston and San Francisco.

Then Dr. Jarrell and his family moved to Alexandria, and he engaged in the practice of pediatrics in Rapides parish for 12 years. He moved to Epps in 1937.

Dr. Jarrell is survived by three sons, Dr. M. Fahy Jarrell, R. Guthrie Jarrell of Epps and G. Herman Jarrell of Bastrop; two grandsons, Dr. M. Lee Jarrell of Alexandria and Dr. R. Guthrie Jarrell Jr. of Epps, and four great-grandchildren.

He was the husband of the late Mattie Fletcher.
