COMMODORE BULLOCK TO BE TRIED AT MARLIN ON A CHANGE OF VENURE [sic]
Steep Hollow Boy Will Face Trial in Falls County
The case of the State of Texas vs. Commodore Bullock, charged with the
murder of Sheriff L. E. Morehead during the latter part of March at
Steep Hollow schoolhouse, during a program there, will be tried before
Judge J. R. Oltorf at Marlin, Falls county, at their regular sessions of
district court, on a change of venue. The defense, represented by
Judge W. S. Dean of Navasota and W. S. Barron of Bryan, filed a motion
for a change of venue on the ground that they could not get a fair and
impartial trial for their defendant in district court here. The
change of venue was granted by Judge W. C. Davis. A special venire[?]
of 120 men had been summoned for this case which was to have been taken up
this morning. County Attorney Oak McKenzie and Attorney Lamar Bethea
are attorneys for the prosecution.
