Cora Newsom

The funeral of Cora Newsom, 72, of Kelly, were [sic was] at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Riser & Son Funeral Home chapel in Columbia with the Revs. Ed Weatherly and David Barkely officiating.

Burial was in Adams Cemetery near here.

Mrs. Newsom died Tuesday in the Louisiana State University Hospital in Shreveport after a lengthy illness.

Survivors include her husband, J. H. (Hence) Newsom of Kelly; one son, Jimmie Newsom of Kelly; three daughter[s], Marcell [sic Marceil] Frazier of Shreveport, Annie Lea Elenburg of Wichita Falls, Texas and Betty Ray Elenburg of Bossier City; five brothers, Alfred Starnes of Columbia, Ed Starnes of Winnfield, Clayton Starnes and Clay Starnes, both of Sykes [sic Sikes], and Vernon Starnes of Grayson; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
