CORINNE ANDERS WALKER (Mrs. Barney W. Walker)

Corinne Anders Walker passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 5, 2010 at Brighton Gardens in Dunwoody.

She was born August 12, 1912 in Hermitage, Arkansas. She had been a resident of Dunwoody since 1966. A graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, she taught school in Arkansas and Texas. She and her husband Barney, lived in Warren, Arkansas, San Antonio, Texas, Birmingham, Alabama and Dunwoody, Georgia. After his retirement, they traveled extensively in the American West, visited Alaska, Hawaii, every province in Canada, Greece and Egypt. Corinne loved reading, gardening and people. She loved visiting shut-ins and had a special connection with children.

As a long-time, faithful member of Dunwoody Baptist, she was known as ``keeper of the keys'' by her fellow members. She had been active in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry and enjoyed attending Young at Heart activities and singing in Heart Strings. Corinne read through the whole Bible every year from 1980. She lived the life of a true Christian, inspiring people through her unassuming example.

Corinne was a ``grandma'' for several generations of children on North Springs Drive in Dunwoody. She was always ready to play with a child, especially a game of Chinese Checkers. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and was thrilled that they are in first place this year. No one hollered louder when they scored a run. She was to attend an upcoming game to celebrate her 98th birthday.

She is predeceased by her husband, Barney, and their infant son, Barney W. Walker, Jr.

Survivors include her nieces, Sarah J. Anders (Eric Nelson) and Susan Wilf (Mike), nephews Joe Anders and Dave Sharp (Patti); sister-in-law Athalene Sharp; great-niece Faith Estes Nelson and great-nephews Marc Anders Nelson, Zachary Sharp and Lann Wilf; and longtime loyal friends, Greg and Marion Kergosien, Bonnie Nichols, Marilyn Donnelly and Trish Fehr. She also leaves behind a treasure trove of loving friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 18 at Dunwoody Baptist Church.
