Corrine Mott Weems
May 20, 1922 - May 29, 2012

Mrs. Corrine Mott Weems passed away May 29 at her home with her daughters by her bedside at the age of 90. Funeral Services for Mrs. Weems will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe on Thursday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Werner Aswell officiating. Interment will be at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe.

Mrs. Weems was born May 20, 1922, in Hebert, Louisiana, to Daniel and Liddie Clark Mott. She was the youngest of seven children and was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Clyde Mott, Euell Mott, George Mott, James Mott, Ruby Brown and Irma Jones. Mrs. Weems was retired from the Department of Transportation where she worked for more than 32 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe and was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, J. D. Weems, and her oldest grandson, Kevin Rutledge of West Monroe.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Dykes and husband Charles, and Ms. Gloria Allbritton of West Monroe. Also surviving Mrs. Weems are her grandchildren, Slade Dykes and wife, Michelle, Tamara Spurgeon and husband Jarrett, and granddaughter-in-law, Ms. Christy Nappier. Surviving great-grandchildren are Ryan and Rylee Dykes, Brooke and Kendall Spurgeon, Claire Rutledge, Emily Rutledge and Jarod Powell. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Marie Medak of Monroe and Mrs. Ethel Mott of Columbia. Also surviving Mrs. Weems is her best friend, Mrs. Violet May.

Pallbearers will be Heath Mott, Roy David Jones, Jarod Powell, Slade Dykes, Ryan Dykes and Jarrett Spurgeon. The family wishes to convey their gratitude to the nurses of Family Life Home Health, Hospice Compassus and Hospice TLC who were so dedicated to her care and comfort. Special thanks are also given to caregivers, Ms. Nyola Gray and Ms. Lillie Richards for their loving devotion and commitment to Mrs. Weems during her lengthy illness.
