COY LUTHER MIDDLETON
Graveside services will be held for Coy Luther Middleton, age 84, on Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park.
Coy was born on April 1, 1922, in Smith County, Miss., to Luther and Melissa Dickerson Middleton. He grew up on the farm. Later he worked at Gulfport, Miss., in a shipyard at the beginning of World War II. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a cook and firefighter. He is a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He served as a baker second class on the destroyer escort USS Mitchell in the South Pacific.
Coy married Mary-Evalyn Moore on April 6, 1946, in Vallejo, Calif. He worked for Fosters Lunch System in San Francisco prior to moving to Chico in 1947. He retired in 1978, from Rodarmel Plumbing after working 32 years in steam fitting and heating. He was an active member of the Church of Christ. He loved and enjoyed his family. His favorite sport was trout fishing in the mountain streams.
Coy died at home on Sept. 20, 2006, and is survived by his wife Mary-Evalyn; two daughters, Barbara of North Carolina; Joyce of New Mexico; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Enloe Hospice or Church of Christ World Bible School in care of Brusie Funeral Home.
