BENTON -- Military services were at 10 a.m. today for M. Sgt. Curtis Norman Foster, 54, of Benton, at Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of West Monroe with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Sergeant Foster was found dead Tuesday in the yard of his home.
The retired Air Force sergeant's body was discovered by his wife. Bossier Parish Sheriff Willie Waggonner said Foster had been shot once in the head by a .38 caliber revolver.
Parish Coroner Dr. C. H. McCuller ruled the fatal wound apparently was self-inflicted. Foster had been dead about two hours when the body was discovered, he said.
A native of Calhoun, he had been a Benton resident about two years. He was a graduate of the Calhoun High School and entered the Air Force in 1941. His medal[s] included the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster. He retired Aug. 31, 1967 after more than 23 years of service.
Survivors other than his widow include his mother, Mrs. Florence Aldie Foster of Calhoun; one son, Curtis Stanton Foster of Annapolis, Md.; one daughter, Mrs. Eddie McCoy of Shreveport; three sisters, Mrs. Freddie Johnson of Jackson, Miss., Golda Walker of Baton Rouge and Doris Custer of Calhoun; one brother, Billy J. Foster of West Monroe; and two grandchildren.
