West Blocton Neighborhood News

Mrs. Jack Shaw passed away last Friday at about 1:30 A.M. Mrs. Shaw had been afflicted for a number of years.

Surviving her are the husband; seven daughters, Mrs. J. T. Swann, Mrs. Artis Whatley, Mrs. Charles McElroy and Mrs. Robert Russell, all of West Blocton, Mrs. Travis Ellis, East Birmingham, Miss Susie and Sammie Shaw, West Blocton; one son, Mr. Andrew Shaw, of West Blocton; two brothers, Mr. Jim Champion, Birmingham, and Mr. John Champion, Marvel; two sisters, Mrs. Marion J. Reach and Mrs. Cal Riley, West Blocton; eight grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will hold scared [sic sacred] the memory of this good woman.

Funeral services were held on Sunday at 3:00 P.M., at Mt. Carmel, with Rev. N. E. Latner officiating. Collins in charge, and was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Shaw was 60 years, three months and 29 days old, and was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
