D. C. Kirkland

Funeral services for D. C. Kirkland, 77, or [sic of] 3033 Regent St., will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. today in Rose-Neath Funeral Home by the Rev. Jack Merritt, pastor of Ingleside Baptist Church, and the Rev. Mark Johnson, pastor of Southland Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Kirkland died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday in Willis Knighton Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was a native of Sikes and had been a Shreveport resident for 50 years. He was a retired merchant and a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and had been a member of the Cedar Grove Masonic Lodge for 25 years.

Survivors include his widow; one son, Chester L. Kirkland of Fort Worth, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Alton L. Byrd of Shreveport and Mrs. C. L. Brewster Jr. of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Arnold Kirkland of Shreveport and Lawrence Kirkland of Texarkana, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. J. C. Blount of Shreveport, and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be T. H. Crout, Charlie Johnson, J. C. Blount, Everett Doubleday, D. E. Butler, R. C. Prince, E. L. Boone and C. K. Riley.
