Dear Momma,

I wrote this essay for a contest many, many years ago about the ``most influential'' woman I had ever known. Needless to say, you were an easy choice.

A Mother

As she silently performs her daily tasks, she seldom complains to others. Her thoughts are always concentrating on ways to help mold her children into the highest achievers they can possibly be. She is constantly seeking ways to become a better leader and to live her life so that she will not guide her loved ones astray. This person is undoubtedly a woman whose attributes consist of diligence, generosity, thoughtfulness, and love. These unique characteristics are those of a good mother.

As one reminisces of past memories, many things come to mind when thoughts are on one's mother. Her tenderness and underlying love has always been there when I felt the world had rejected me, and I could not endure another day. She has always been there with outstretched arms waiting to catch me when I fall. Her confidence in me has been that extra burst of strength that I have needed to face another day. Regardless of my failures, she has never stopped loving me. It is amazing how one person can overlook another's faults and search deeply inside his life to find that special individual.

My mother's guidance has taught me to respect others, especially those who are less fortunate than I. Her lessons of love and patience have been the greatest assets to my life. To her I pledge my gratitude, for there shall never be another such as she.

It's funny how these words truly, I dedicated to you, so very long ago, eulogize your life.

Love,
Delynn ``Sissy''
