Memorial services for Andy Hawthorne will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Pineville Community Center with a reception following. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Peach and Etta Hawthorne; brothers, Alvin Hawthorne, J. P. Hawthorne, Wallace Hawthorne, and Lloyd Hawthorne.
Andy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Lee Mercer Hawthorne; his son, Randy Hawthorne, and wife, Bonnie; his daughter, Dianne Hawthorne Watson, all of Pineville; brother, Bobby Hawthorne and wife, Marie, of Poland; special nephew that he helped raise, Richard Hawthorne, and his wife, Kathryn, of Pineville; grandchildren, Lori Hawthorne of Austin, Chris Hawthorne and his wife, Alysia, of Pineville; Kelli Watson of Pineville; step granddaughters, Jennifer Watson Espinosa of Austin, Christy Watson of Virginia Beach, VA; and one great grandson, Tyler Hawthorne of Pineville.
Andy was the owner of Hawthorne Auto Parts, a member of First Baptist Church in Pineville, past President of MacArthur Drive Lion's Club, a life member of the Lion's League for Crippled Children, life-time member and District Director of Association of Louisiana Bass Clubs. He hosted the Rod and Reel Roundup with Huey Lachney, on KRRV Radio. He was an active member of the Alexandria Exchange Club. He was also a 45 year supporter of ESA Women's Sorority and received rewards for his fundraising efforts for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
Andy was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed football, Nascar racing, golf, and traveling with his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
