David C. Ivie
November 15, 1946 - June 1, 2012

David Cecil Ivie, age 65, of Stover, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

He was born November 15, 1946, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, a son of William David and Wanda Ailene Ballard Ivie, who preceded him in death.

He married Mary Elizabeth Pond and to this union 3 children were born. She survives in Olathe, Kansas. On February 9, 1974, in Kansas City, Kansas, David married Phyllis Stone Tierney, who survives at their home.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1968.

David was a certified marine technician, working for B.A. Sales, at Broken Arrow Marina in Sunrise Beach.

He thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent serving as a Webelos leader with the Heart of America Council BSA Troop 3194 in Shawnee, Kansas.

David was a gifted mechanic, who enjoyed tinkering on all types of engines.

In addition to his wife of 36 years, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Kristine Ivie Thompson Morris and husband Robert of Olathe, Kansas; four sons, Craig Alan Ivie Thompson and Richard Brian Ivie Thompson both of Olathe, Kansas; Chad Carey of Florida and William D. Ivie of Versailles; one stepson, Jeffrey M. Tierney of Versailles; two brothers, Lemuel “Bart” Ivie and wife Renate of Sorrento, Florida and Michael Wayne Ivie and wife Dixie of Stover; two sisters, Linda Lou Lenz and husband James of Eudora, Kansas and Leta Jane Plack and husband Mike of Texas; nine grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date.
