DAVID TATE

COLORADO CITY (Staff) -- Services for David Vernon Tate, 64, of Westbrook, who was killed when struck by a pickup 11 miles west of Big Spring on Interstate 20 Saturday night, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church in Westbrook.

Burial will be in Westbrook Cemetery under direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1912, in Coushatta, La., and married Zella Thompson on June 27, 1947 in Raybille [sic Rayville], La. He was an oil pumper and had lived in Westbrook since 1957.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Rodney Johnston of Westbrook and Mary Frances Bumer [sic Brimer] and Shirley Ruth Bumer [sic Brimer], both of Oakdale, La.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Alvin Warren of Raybille [sic Rayville], La.., and Mrs. L. T. Shropshire and Mrs. Davon Leverett, both of Kermit; three sons, James David Tate of San Diego, Calif., and Jerry Tate and William Tate, both of Westbrook; a stepson, H.D. Dyson [sic Dison] of Raybille [sic Rayville], La.; a sister, Jewell Meyux of Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, Willis Tate of Lake Providence, La., and Garland Tate of Oakdale, La.; 25 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

David Vernon Tate

WESTBROOK (Special) -- Services for David Vernon Tate, 64, of Westbrook will be at 2 p.m. today in the Westbrook Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Westbrook Cemetery under the direction of Kiker and Seale Funeral Home of Colorado City.

Tate died at about 9 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle 11 miles west of Big Spring on IH 20.

Tate was a native of Louisiana, and had moved to Westbrook where he worked as an oil pumper. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Ozella; three daughters, Mrs. Rodney Johnston of Westbrook, Mary Francis Buner [sic Brimer] and Shirley Ruth Buner [sic Brimer], both of Oakdale, La.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Alvin Warren of Mayville, La., Mrs. L. T. Shropshire and Mrs. Davon Leverett, both of Kermit; three sons, James of San Diego, Cal., Terry and William, both of Westbrook; one stepson, H. D. Dison of Raymondville, La.; one sister, Mrs. Jewell Meyux of Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, William of Lake Providence, La., and Garland of Oakdale, La.; 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
