ROLEN, Mr. David Zack, 73, a resident of Montgomery, AL, died Tuesday, January 9, 1996, in a local hospital. After graduating from the Barnes Academy, he attended and graduated from the Pensacola Naval Air Station, where he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Navy Air Corp and served as a Pilot in the South Pacific during World War II. He then attended Auburn University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He later joined his father in the family business of J. Z. Rolen Contracting Company. Afterwards he worked with the Sixth Division of the State of Alabama Highway Department as a Bridge Inspector and Engineer until the time of his retirement. Funeral services will be held from Leak-Memory Chapel on Thursday, January 11, 1996, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Beachuam and the Rev. Jay Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Pearson Rolen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julia Rolen Vinson and Craig O. Vinson, Sr., Montgomery, AL and Gay Rolen Winters and David Winters, Indian Harbor Beach, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, James Zack Rolen and Lee Barnes Rolen, Montgomery, AL; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen P. Harrison, Montgomery, AL and Mrs. Marie P. Lawson, Vienna, VA; and seven grandchildren, Craig Olin Vinson, Jr., Hilda Rolen Vinson, Audi Jackson Winters, Julia Rolen Winters, David Zack Rolen, II and James Walker Rolen.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Raymond Boylon, Jr., Dave Johnson Poundstone, Mike Poundstone, Emmett Poundstone and Wylie Poundstone. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Boylon, Sr., Charles Dixon, Emmett Poundstone, Sr., Walter Ashurst, James J. Britton, James Cooper, John Farley, Richard Hodges, J. B. Marshall, Silas Brook Nettles, David Poundstone, Sr., Wylie Poundstone, Sr., Mrs. Pierre Ridolphi and Mrs. James Watkins.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Childrens Hospital, Birmingham, AL.
