AUGUSTA, Ga. -- DeeAnn entered into rest Sunday, October 8, 2006 to the home of the Lord and Savior. DeeAnn was a near lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She was born November 26, 1956 in Heidelberg, Germany [sic Heidelberg, Mississippi] and moved to Augusta in 1964 when DeeAnn was 7 years old. She graduated from Butler High School in 1974 and continued to Augusta State University where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. She received her CPA and worked for Baird and Company for 20 years. She has been affiliated in community activities thru the Rotary Club of Martinez-Evans where she was the treasurer.
DeeAnn was the beloved wife of Robert Lee (Bob) Walters; mother and father, Lt. Col. and Mrs. Duris Speights, Jr. (MaMa Ruby and Daddy Dee); daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Chris Hutchinson; grandchildren, Hannah and KaylaAnn; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon Speights and Audie Bovier; and nephew, Scott Bovier. Extended family members include Leo and Odessa Bass and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Quick and family and special angel, GeorgeAnn Hadden.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Hyder officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott Bovier, Derrick Bass, Tommy Leonard, Chris Hutchinson, Mickey Bass and Chad Bass. Honorary pallbearers will be the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, c/o Duris Speights, Jr., 3565 Pebble Beach Dr., Martinez, GA 30907, for her grandchild, Hannah Quick.
