Funeral services for Mr. Delbert Leroy Toomey of Center, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel in Center with the Rev. Minfied White and the Rev. Earl Moore officiating.
Burial was held at Old Center Cemetery.
Mr. Toomey, 69, died Friday, Dec. 11, at Panola General Hospital.
Born Oct. 23, 1918 in Panola County, he was the son of Robert and Annie Gomillom Toomey. Mr. Toomey was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521. He was a director of the East Texas Electric Co-op and former director of the Panola County Farm Bureau. He had lived in Old Center Community all of his life. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark E. Toomey.
Survivors include his wife: Joy LeVerne Toomey of Tenaha; three sons and daughters-in-law: Vernon and Louise Toomey of Tenaha; Robert P. (Rob) and Betty Toomey of Tenaha; Perry Joe (Hank) and Patti Toomey, of Tenaha; two daughters and sons-in-law: Betty and Jerry Williams of Tenaha; Nan and Larry Powell of Tenaha; three sisters: Ruby Allen DeRitter of Los Angeles; Sue Bryan of Tenaha; Faye Peddy of Tenaha; two brothers: Robert H. Toomey, Jr. of Tenaha; and Lou Allen Toomey of Tenaha; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Jeff Scott, Kevin Cox, Barney Bryant, Rodney Bryant, Charles Hancock, Bob Soape, Buddy Bryant, Ralph Funk, Tommy Holmes and George M. Baldwin.
