Dallas County Pioneer Dies

Seagoville, Tex., April 7. -- Mrs. C. C. Hawthorne, better known as “Grandma” Hawthorne, died at the family residence in Seagoville, after a lingering illness of several months.

Grandma Hawthorne was one of the pioneers of Dallas County, coming with her husband, C. C. Hawthorne from Louisiana forty years ago and settling near Seagoville, where she resided up to the time of her death. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church, of which she had long been a faithful member, and burial was in Lee Cemetery, near this place.

Mrs. Hawthorne was 73 years of age, and is survived by her husband, C. C. Hawthorne, and the following children: W. A. Hawthorne, R. C. Hawthorne, Mrs. J. L. Ard, Mrs. R. F. McClung and Mrs. E. F. Hillan, all of Seagoville, and Mrs. W. J. Harris of Dallas and Mrs. [sic Mr.] M. P. Hawthorne of Mesquite.
