Dennis B. Burtram

Funeral service with full military honors for Dennis B. Burtram, 83, of Decatur will be Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Baskins, the Rev. Randy VanLandingham and the Rev. Brad Eades officiating. The body will be in the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Roselawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Burtram, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at his daughter's residence, was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Birmingham to Dennis H. Burtram and Velma Lee Ramsey Burtram. He joined the U.S. Army in 1943, where he served in Europe and Japan during World War II and also served in the Korean Conflict. He later retired from the military. Mr. Burtram retired from 3M Co. after 18 years serving in safety and security and was the fire chief. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife of 61 years, Martha Julia Burtram.

Survivors include his son, Randy Burtram, and wife, Karin, of Decatur; daughter, Tami Burtram of Decatur; sister, Mildred Eden of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Mike Burtram and wife, Deana, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Brad Burtram and wife, Kim, of Monroe, La.; and three great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Bailey and Reese Burtram, all of Monroe, La.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved pet, Harley.

Members of the military will serve as pallbearers.
