Dennis Clifford Monk
Dennis C. Monk, 83, of Port Neches died November 9, 2010 at Cypress Glen East Nursing Home in Port Arthur.
Born June 2, 1927 in Oakdale, Louisiana the son of Eathel Stanley and James Cleveland Monk, Mr. Monk grew up in Port Acres, and was a resident of Port Neches for more than 50 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran and also served in the Texas National Guard. He was employed with Texaco for thirty-seven years until he retired in 1983. Dennis and Paula Monk are members of First United Methodist Church in Nederland.
As well as being a great carpenter, Mr. Monk enjoyed fishing, the Astros, Dallas Cowboys, traveling, card games and dominoes. He loved babies and never met a baby that didn't like him.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Monk of Port Neches; daughter, Karen Seago of Odem; sons, Paul Monk and his wife Donna of Port Neches and Nathan Monk and his wife Rita of Houston; grandchildren, Julie Seago, David Seago, Dennis Monk, Paula Droddy, Cameron Monk, Brandon Monk, and Natalie Miller; great grandchildren, Nolan, Connor, Colin, Jackson, Jocelyn, and Zachary; sister, Jessie Bea Hahn; and brother, Donald Monk.
He was preceded in death by nine sisters and brothers.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 at Broussard's, 505 12th Street, Nederland followed by burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday evening, November 11, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Broussard's.
