Dewey Madison Carlisle, Sr.
Funeral services for Dewey Madison Carlisle, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Hixson Brothers Chapel, Alexandria, with Reverend David Shaw officiating. Burial will be immediately following the funeral service at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Dewey M. Carlisle, 90, of Alexandria, passed away February 12, 2011, at Lakehaven Nursing Home, Valdosta, Georgia.
Mr. Carlisle was a United States Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. During his working life he was a Funeral Director with Hixson Brothers, retiring after 33 years of service. He had served as General Manager from 1961 until his retirement. He was a member of the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association having served in all offices and on the Board of Directors; he was past president of the Alexandria Rotary Club. Mr. Carlisle was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Lillian Scarbrough Carlisle, and his parents, Harvey Madison and Edna Hawkins Carlisle.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Dewey ``Mat'' Carlisle and his wife Deborah, of Aberdeen, Washington, and Cynthia Carlisle Neck and her husband David, of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Joseph Carlisle, Daniel Carlisle, Katherine Carlisle, Samuel Carlisle, Rachael Carlisle, David Randall Neck and Laura Katherine Neck; great grandchildren, Rhett Carlisle, Elise Carlisle, Ashton Carlisle, Tristan Neck and Isabella Neck; and a host of other family members and friends.
Memorials may be made to Parkview Baptist Church, Scholarship fund, 2101 MacArthur Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana 71301.
