Dewey Dunn Expires at 59

Dewey Wilbur Dunn, 59, furniture salesman for Hemenway Furniture Co. died at 1 p.m. Monday in an Alexandria hospital. He was a resident of 1702 Bush avenue.

A native of Lecompte, Dunn had lived in Alexandria 38 years. He was associated with Clark, Dunbar & Dunn before rejoining the Hemenway firm.

He was a member and past patron of the J. T. Charnley Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, a member and past master of Oliver Lodge F&AM and a member of El Karubah Shrine Temple. He was also a member of the Alexandria Lions Club, a deacon in Emmanuel Baptist church and a past chairman of the March of Dimes in Alexandria.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Emmanuel Baptist church with Rev. Schnyler M. Batson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Eastern Star services will be conducted by the J. T. Charnley chapter at the church. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Oliver Lodge No. 84, F&AM.

Dunn's body will be at Hixson Bros. Funeral Home until noon Wednesday when it will be transferred to Emmanuel Baptist church.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Stickley Dunn; three sons, Dr. George Dewey Dunn of Kansas City, Kans., Carl D. Dunn of Baton Rouge, and Charles Owen Dunn of Jackson, Miss.; a brother, Carl A. Dunn of Houston, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. Lula Session[s] of Alexandria, and five grandchildren.
