Dial was born September 24, 1942 to Viva and Dial Amos, Sr. in Daingerfield, Texas. He was an elder at North Davis Church of Christ, where he has been a member for 32 years. Dial retired from the Dallas Morning News as an advertising manager after 26 years.
Survivors: Wife of 36 years, Elaine; son, Brad Amos and wife, Kathi of Sachse, Texas; granddaughter, Kayla Amos; sister, Diane Russell and husband, Willis of North Richland Hills and one niece and two nephews.
